Brisbane offers Developer Advocate openings across construction, mining and healthcare. Each employer words its postings differently, so one generic resume won’t do. Tailor yours to the posting and the local conventions (two to three pages).
Developer Advocate hiring in Brisbane
Local employers span construction, mining and healthcare. If you have experience in these sectors, say so clearly, for example by naming the industry in your summary and showing results with Developer relations, Technical content and Demos. Never claim experience you don’t have.
Resume conventions in Australia
- Typical length: two to three pages.
- Local note: Australian resumes commonly state work rights (citizen, PR, or visa) and often list referees or provide them on request.
What a recruiter checks first on a Developer Advocate resume
In software and IT hiring, the first read is fast. These are the things that matter most:
- a stack that matches the posting (languages, frameworks, cloud) visible in the first third of the page
- evidence of shipping — systems launched, scale handled, incidents resolved
- ownership: design decisions you made, not just tickets you closed
Keywords hiring teams look for in a Developer Advocate resume
Applicant tracking systems and recruiters search for specific terms. For Developer Advocate roles these come up most often — include them only where they are true for you:
Before and after: how a Developer Advocate-style bullet improves
Generic
Worked on the backend of the payments service and fixed bugs.
Tailored
Owned the payments service backend: reduced checkout errors by 31% and cut p95 latency by 40% by redesigning retry logic.
Illustrative example. Numbers like these should always come from your own real results — useful metrics for this field include latency, uptime, throughput, users served, deployment frequency, cost saved.
How to tailor your Developer Advocate resume in three steps
- Mark the must-haves. Read the posting and highlight the tools, skills, and responsibilities it repeats or labels “required”.
- Match them to your real experience. For each must-have, find the place in your history where you actually did it, and move that evidence to the top — using the posting’s wording where it is honest.
- Cut what doesn’t help. Shorten or remove bullets that don’t support this particular job. Two strong, relevant lines beat six generic ones.
That’s exactly what renewed.cv automates: it extracts the requirements, rewrites your real experience around them, fact-checks the result against your original, and shows you a before/after match score.
