Never claim experience you don’t have.
CV conventions in United Kingdom
- Typical length: two pages.
- Local note: UK CVs usually omit a photo and personal details, and often open with a short personal profile.
What hiring managers scan for in a Platform Engineer resume
In software and IT hiring, the first read is fast. These are the things that matter most:
- a stack that matches the posting (languages, frameworks, cloud) visible in the first third of the page
- evidence of shipping — systems launched, scale handled, incidents resolved
- ownership: design decisions you made, not just tickets you closed
Keywords hiring teams look for in a Platform Engineer CV
Applicant tracking systems and recruiters search for specific terms. For platform Engineer roles these come up most often — include them only where they are true for you:
Before and after: how a platform Engineer-style bullet improves
Generic
Worked on the backend of the payments service and fixed bugs.
Tailored
Owned the payments service backend: reduced checkout errors by 31% and cut p95 latency by 40% by redesigning retry logic.
Illustrative example. Numbers like these should always come from your own real results — useful metrics for this field include latency, uptime, throughput, users served, deployment frequency, cost saved.
How to tailor your Platform Engineer CV in three steps
- Mark the must-haves. Read the posting and highlight the tools, skills, and responsibilities it repeats or labels “required”.
- Match them to your real experience. For each must-have, find the place in your history where you actually did it, and move that evidence to the top — using the posting’s wording where it is honest.
- Cut what doesn’t help. Shorten or remove bullets that don’t support this particular job. Two strong, relevant lines beat six generic ones.
That’s exactly what renewed.cv automates: it extracts the requirements, rewrites your real experience around them, fact-checks the result against your original, and shows you a before/after match score.
